Life’s A Piece of Art

“Accept what you are able to do and what you are not able to do.
Accept the past as past without denying it or discarding it. “

- Mitch Albom: “Tuesdays with Morrie”

Life’s beauty is somewhat exceptional. Its beauty is derived not from the combination of the usual paint and brush (or other art materials as well) that artists use for their objet d’ art, but of the combination of the happiest and bleakest memoirs of life. I have proven this because I have been an artist of my own life myself… once. I was able to make myself the one I called my “obra maestra”. This beautiful portrait, my memorable experience, was being kept in the museum of my heart and will always stay there forever.

I don’t how I was able to come up with such… but maybe it’s because of the tools I got. Appreciation is amongst the good tools I used. Yes… appreciation… because from it did I got the concept of my work of art: “No matter how unfair life is for you, or how unfortunate you are today; learn to appreciate it, look at the deeper side… you just don’t know that God has something for you in it. Cherish everything in life… the headaches, the heartaches… God has purpose why you have to experience those.” Appreciation has brought me to the negative side of life where new learning shone in my mind. It has lifted me up at those times I was discouraged by the people around me, at those times when I am almost to give up.

Sometimes, we are blinded of the beauty of life because of the trials and challenges. Sometimes, we fail to see the most interesting portion in life because of the whims and notions. All of these we missed because we lack appreciation. Appreciation is what we need to see the very meaningful details in life’s portrait. Think of what God teaches you. Take the wisdom God is sharing you upon those trials and challenges. Cherish it and you will gain happiness in your heart.

Whenever I’m reminded of these, I am inspired to make another piece of art. With God in my heart, I feel like I can do everything even at the hardest moments of my life… Sometimes, I lack the art materials I wish to use, but God provides me a better tool... Something that make me even happier as I continue working with this art piece of mine.
